How To Add More Applications To Your Nokia N900

All we know that the Nokia N900 is a Linux based mobile and its applications can be downloaded on the Nokia N900 via the OVI store or application manager. As the OVI store still in beta stage, we are unable to find more application on the OVI store. But we can download relatively more application from the application manager by adding some new catalogs.

In order to create new catalogs we need to go to Menu -> Application Manager, it looks like

here tab on the Application Manager, then your screen look like this

Now tab on the Application catalogs, it will show the available catalogs as bellow

Tab on New to add new catalogs to your Maemo

Here we need to enter the new catalogs particulars. We have three catalog details at present from the different categories, and need to create three catalogs means just repeat the above procedure to create them.

1. Maemo Extras Catalog Details

Catalog name: Maemo Extras

Web address: http://repository.maemo.org/extras/
Distribution: fremantle
Components: free non-free

Some devices may have it by default but we need to uncheck the Disabled setting.

2. Maemo Testing Applications Catalog Details

Catalog name: Maemo Extras-testing
Web address: http://repository.maemo.org/extras-testing/
Distribution: fremantle
Components: free non-free

3. Maemo Developer Testing Applications Catalog Details

Catalog name: Maemo Extras-devel
Web address: http://repository.maemo.org/extras-devel/
Distribution: fremantle
Components: free non-free

Developer testing and testing applications are the applications which are in testing stage so don’t expert full features and installing testing application may slowdown your device, so install at your own risk.
