Basically I am a Nokia fan, I have been using Nokia since 2003. Right now I have a Nokia 5800 and a Nokia N91 in my hand. Recently I am pretty much impressed with the Nokia’s latest mobile N900.
I have been visiting many sites to see its performance and features. All the time I am finding excellent features with the Nokia N900 even though it has no number of third party applications. All it have is it’s operating system. The Maemo is the operating system incorporated in it and it is developed on the Linux platform. The only thing all it takes is it’s UI.
At present it is not available in India but I am planning to ship it from USA, for that I have contacted one of my friends and he is going to bring it soon. So I will be a Maemo user shortly.
On the visit to other site I found some drawbacks of the Nokia N900, the major one (in the site author opinion) the third party application availability. But I think and believe that it is not a big problem at all, we can expert all the major Symbian applications for this Nokia N900, as it is derived from Linux many of the developers have a clear idea of this platform or can easily learn and develop application easily. One more thing is Nokia is also testing Maemo OVI Store and it will be launched officially soon. And the remaining drawbacks are personal ones like the screen text font and other things.
Regarding the Maemo operating system, it is awesome. The processor is also too good at speed, so both enriched the speed of the system. These things avail us to do multitask with a huge number of application.
Regarding the browser, the Nokia N900 has a pre installed Mozilla browser and Adobe 9.4 flash these things make us to feel desktop browsing experience. Most of the websites are loaded as they appear on the desktop.
The touch screen is too sensitive and the responding time is also low. The application responding time is also too low.
TestFreaks given it a rating 9.8 out of 10.
So if you are plannign to buy a new Nokia mobile then consider it.
Hi,
This is Supreet from Delhi.
Am not much into nokia much but n900 sure is pulling me towards it, I have ppl who can get it for me from US , that not a problem , but seems there are lot of issues with it like mic not working or random reboots ..
I hear tht n900 gonna get a major firmware upgrade this month, just wanted to knw from ur past experiance with nokia , how good and fast are they with their upgrades ?
I browsed many sites where I haven’t found such issues, but if it has any bugs we can expert updates from Nokia.
bought mine a few days ago in Spain. No issues at all. A brilliant phone. So superior to the iPhone. I only hope Nokia’s marketing picks up with Apple’s because their engineers are far superior…
